Here, use my collar bone to cut your pizza

I had my first dress fitting yesterday.  It was so wonderful to see my gown, all lovely and new (and wrinkled, bah), and intact.

I had my bustle pinned into three french points:

(the left half of the dress is bustled only as an example)

...which I think looks quite elegant.

Luckily for me, because I am tall, I didn't need any hemming. However, there were some alterations that were unexpected -

I'm having almost two inches taken in on both sides of my waist! I posted before about how walking everyday to work was causing weight loss, but after seeing these photos of myself, I felt ill (and not just because I was apparently stepping on my tucked under train :P)

I'm getting so, so, skinny - and not in the "oh, you're so lucky, you're so skinny" kind of way, but the "omg, you're SO SKINNY, go see a doctor" sucky-town version. I know that losing weight can be hard for many people, and I'm not trying to show off, believe me.  For many women, the struggle is to keep on weight, and I happen to be one of them due to a super fast metabolism (I can lose/gain 5-8 lbs within a day), and a tendency to shed pounds like petals when I'm stressed.

I love my weight. I love it not.

I had an eating disorder when I was a teenager, and at my lowest point weighed 115 lbs at 5'9," but since then I have maintained a happy and healthy body weight of 135lb-ish. However, because of all of my work-induced exercise, and the looming sword of Damocles that is my wedding, the pounds are falling off - and just keep falling. I currently weight 125 lbs, and Mr. Shortcake can play the xylophone on my spine.

I know that as the wedding approaches I'm going to lose even more weight as my stress increases, so I'm really concerned that on my wedding day I'm going to look like a bejewelled bag of bones. And to make it worse, now that I've had my first fitting and my dress is being taken in so much, I'm worried about eating too much and not fitting into my dress if I try to gain weight!

I want to look beautiful on my wedding day, and not like some praying mantis in a petticoat. What do you think I should do?

Is anyone else struggling with their weight before their wedding?

I also struggle to keep on weight. The best thing I ever did was go to a nutritionist/dietician for healthy eating habits on how to keep the weight. Also, try weight bearing exercise and you will gain muscle mass and ton. Good luck! I know how hard it can be for folks to feel sympathy for those of us with high metabolisms.

thanks so much for the suggestion! Mr. Shortcake is a nutritionist and a personal trainer - and a much underused resource in my household....maybe I'll ask his advice now ;)

Call me weird, but I love collarbones.
